Tom Dennis – President
Tom Dennis is the President and serves on the 2016-2017 Board of Directors for the AMA DFW Chapter.
He is serving his second term as President of the chapter. In 2010 he helped transform the organization into one of the top chapters in the country and in 2012 he was recognized as the American Marketing Association’s “National Volunteer of the Year”.
He is VP of Brand Strategy at ExperiPro, a marketing insights and brand strategy firm. For 30 years, he has combined his passion for both marketing and sales to help companies craft their story, strengthen their culture, and engage with their target market. Active on social media, with a background in software, fine paper and printing, Tom brings a unique skill set to every client engagement.
Tom is an instructor at SMU where he teaches a class on Digital Branding and Engagement. He has served on the board of the West Dallas Chamber of Commerce and the Dallas Society of Visual Communications. In 2010, Tom co-found 1st Tuesday Connections, a Texas not-for-profit dedicated to providing educational programing for North Texas entrepreneurs. In 2014, the group became a part of the North Dallas Chamber of Commerce where he continues to serve on the guiding committee.
Saving the world one brand at a time, Tom is a frequent speaker on the importance of branding and company culture.
In his spare time, he is an avid roller coaster enthusiast and a collector of Chuck Taylor High-Tops.
Jennifer Bloom – President-Elect
Jennifer Bloom serves as the President-Elect and is on the 2016-2017 AMA DFW Board of Directors.
She is an expert Executive Search Recruiter with over nine years of Recruiting and Sales experience, spanning multiple industries including but not limited to: Digital Marketing, Creative Services, Interactive, Tourism & Travel, Finance & Accounting, and Executive Administration.
Embodying a true passion for making matches in the Marketing and Creative Space, I believe in pairing talent with their dream jobs while simultaneously finding clients their next ‘Employee of the Year’. I build partnerships and assist professionals in realizing & attaining their professional passions.
Beth Ann Black – Secretary
Beth Ann Black serves as the Secretary for the 2017-2018 AMA DFW Chapter Board of Directors.
She distributes monthly notices for each board meeting, compiles reports, creates the consent agenda and takes minutes of board meetings.
A marketing professional at Weaver, the largest independent accounting firm in the Southwest, Beth Ann Black’s areas of expertise include marketing communications, media relations and public relations.
At Weaver, Black supports marketing projects including handling media relations and coordinating sponsorship involvements. She responds to media when issues arise, coordinates interviews and creates and distributes news releases to target media. Black develops and maintains extensive local, regional and national media relationships for the firm.
Black earned a Bachelor of Journalism from The University of Texas, is married, has three grown daughters and three grandchildren. She is very active at St. Andrew Presbyterian Church in Denton and enjoys cooking and entertaining.
Jackie Connors – EVP Membership
Jackie serves as the EVP of Membership and is on the 2017-2018 Board of Directors for the AMA DFW Chapter. She is responsible for maintaining and growing the chapter’s number of members. Jackie has been involved in the chapter for years and is excited to lead the charge on strengthening its impact and presence in the community.
Jackie is the Founder and CEO of a Dallas-based inbound marketing agency, Digital Marketing Direction. The company offers customized HubSpot and inbound trainings, consulting, and content services. Her favorite parts about inbound as a Journalism major include conducting buyer persona interviews, coming up with compelling content ideas, and working with talented creatives to bring clients’ visions to life. As a top tiered HubSpot partner, the number one most important factor for her when it comes to clients are results. This, combined with her love for connecting with all sorts of people, naturally makes growing the member base at AMA DFW a perfect fit.
In her free time, she likes to travel, enjoy good food, and spend time with her family.
Kristan Bourestom – Executive Director
Kristan has served as Executive Director for the Dallas / Fort Worth American Marketing Association since November of 2010. Prior to coming to the AMA DFW she worked in the world of Nonprofit for 20+ years. She has a B.A. in Sociology and Anthropology from Luther College in Decorah Iowa and pursued her graduate studies in Sociology with an emphasis in Women and Minority studies at Texas Woman’s University. When she’s not working or at a AMA DFW event, she has her hands full with one art project or another, volunteering with the homeless or spending time with her husband and two daughters enjoying the beautiful State Parks of Texas.
Barbara Boyle – EVP Mentor Program
Barbara Boyle is the Co-EVP for the AMA DFW Mentor Program and serves on the 2016-2017 Board of Directors. She has done everything in the realm of marketing communications. She has worked for such outstanding companies as Tektronix, GTE, Verizon, Ericsson and Fujitsu on their communications to customers, employees and partners. She has also been on the front lines in introducing new technologies to the market. These include Voice over IP, digital PBX’s, instant messaging, Bluetooth. She has developed strategies for effective communication using the Web, video, digital media and event marketing. Her experience is both domestic and international. She was the Managing Partner of Azure Marketing Communications, a marketing company offering strategic planning, marketing services and graphic design. Currently, she is consulting on the introduction of an Internet of Things (IoT) application for the air cargo industry.
Bob Graham – Collegiate Relations
Bob Graham is the EVP of Collegiate Relations and is returning to the Board of Directors and the Metroplex after a long absence.
Bob has served the Chapter and AMA International in many capacities. He was DFW Chapter President from 1993-94, and served as EVP of Professional Development, Judging Coordinator for Marketer of the Year. He served as Chairperson of AMA International’s Ethics Committee 2003-2005.
Bob is a Strategic Insights professional specializing in Voice of the Customer. He has been recognized for his ability known for his ability to find unique insights, synthesize findings across different data sets and methodologies and explain the story of his findings clearly and effectively. He has worked in the corporate research departments of State Farm Insurance, Energizer, RadioShack, Sprint and JCPenney. He has also worked as a consultant for Apex, Maritz, Probe Research and M/C/C. He currently is an Account Executive in the Dallas offices MDC/VuPoint Research.
He holds a BA with Honors from the University of Massachusetts, and an MA from the State University of NY at Buffalo.
Bob sums himself up this way: “I come from Pittsfield Massachusetts and am Scottish on my father’s side and Irish on my mothers. In me you have the convergence of 3 great cultures: Northeastern Attitude meets Irish passion and Scottish resolve.”
Bob lives in The Colony, TX with his wife Alice and their beloved Golden Retriever, Fenway. Fenway’s command to sit is “Fenway, park.”
Kristin Johnson – EVP Volunteers
Kristin Johnson serves as Co EVP for Volunteers and is on the 2016-2017 Board of Directors for the AMA DFW Chapter.
She serves as the Director of Marketing at Improving, a Plano-based software development consultancy firm. She is experienced in branding, corporate communications, event logistics, and executing various marketing campaigns. She possesses a passion to learn more about communications and the evolution of social media in the marketing process.
She has been a member of the AMA DFW since June 2012 and currently serves as an Executive Vice President of Volunteer Relations on the Volunteer Committee.
Kristin earned her bachelor’s degree in Communications at Texas A&M University, while minoring in Anthropology. She enjoys hiking, traveling, and trying new restaurants in Dallas.
Angela Neal – Special Interest Groups
Angela Neal is a returning Board member serving as the EVP of Special Interest Groups (SIGs) for the 2017-2018 AMA DFW Chapter Board of Directors. She is responsible for revitalizing the AMA DFW SIGs.
Angela has a wealth of experience in Digital Marketing Insights & Analytics where she has supported fortune 500 companies in establishing and improving on customer, site, and campaign digital initiatives. Angela is a forward-thinking, analytically competent leader adept at uniting technical challenges and creative vision to produce client engaging results. She is the founder of Just The Heart, LLC, a creative designs and services company offering graphic design, motion graphics, web design, PR & marketing support services, and analytics and insights services. It is this diverse experience which makes Angela a great fit to revitalized the AMA DFW SIGs.
In her spare time, Angela enjoys spending time with family and friends, practicing Bikram Yoga, and volunteering.
Monica Sales – Meet & Greets
A Dallas-area native, Monica Sales currently serves as the Marketing and PR Manager at Klyde Warren Park, where she is responsible for creating and implementing the overall marketing strategy for the park and upholding its brand integrity.
With previous roles at marketing, advertising and PR agencies in Dallas, Monica lends a background of delivering top-notch results for B2B and B2C clients in the oil and gas, energy, logistics, publishing/entertainment, healthcare and non-profit industries.
Monica currently serves as the Executive Vice President of Meet & Greets. She is a graduate of Texas A&M University and enjoys taking spin classes, exploring new places in Dallas and traveling solo around the world.
David Slatter – Insights & Strategy
David Slatter serves as EVP for Insights and Strategy for the 2017-2018 Board of Directors for the AMA DFW Chapter.
David is a +30-year marketing veteran and has held a variety of senior management positions in Europe and the U.S. in strategic marketing, communications and market research. Since 2010, as president of ExperiPro, David has leveraged his many years of client-side experience to help companies solve their most complex business challenges by uncovering and harnessing customer insights to create a competitive advantage. Prior to ExperiPro, David was the global Market Research Manager for Texas Instruments, where he was responsible for all aspects of primary research in the Europe, Asia and U.S. markets.
David has worked with dozens of companies and business leaders to create and execute powerful marketing strategies, go-to-market programs and product launch initiatives. His passion is to help his clients become their customers first choice.
